This afternoon I traveled north to Braintree to go and watch some BMX racing. This was partly as a friend was taking part as she and her lad are members of the club there. I don’t recall ever going to watch BMX racing although I’m sure I did watch some at the 2012 Olympics on the TV. I nearly didn’t make it as the forecast wasn’t good and I nearly turned around on the drive there when the heavens opened but I’m glad I didn’t as it was great fun.
The event was organised by Braintree Bullets BMX club and was held at the BMX track in north Braintree. I was there early enough to watch some of the competitors practice and I was struck by a) how young most of them were and b) how the bikes differed from the normal BMX eg lighter and with much smaller tyres. MY lad has GT Fly BMX which weighs a ton and I couldn’t imagine hauling that around the course.
Anyway – in the short time I was there I still managed to shoot over 1200 photos. A number of people asked me if I was shooting for the club and/or for personal purposes and were pleased to learn that I planned to upload them to the web for free download – and this is where to find them.
As I usually do I have uploaded pretty much the whole lot to my Google+ photo site into 3 albums and the links are below. You are free to download copies for personal use only and where appropriate I would like to be credited as the photographer. If anyone wants copies of any of the original hi res versions then email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will chuck them in a dropbox for you. Similarly if you do not want any of the photos to appear in what are public albums then let me now and I will remove any that you identify.
A few photos are also included below the links. They open into bigger versions in new windows on clicking.
