A few photos from the 68th running of the Southend Parkrun on January 11th 2014. I wasn’t the ‘official’ volunteer photographer for the event but I want to try some different settings and cameras.
I used my daughters basic Nikon D3100 with stock 18-55 F3.5-5.6 VR lens and my basic Fujifilm Finepix S200 EXR with 30-430 F2.8-5.3 fixed zoom lens. The photos from the Nikon were marginally better than the Fuji as you would expect. Both were using the inbuilt ‘sports’ settings and I tried with the Fuji not to have the zoom too long.
Unusually for me I also did a fair bit of post processing in that I cropped them square as I like a nice tight photo particularly if of an individual. I then re-sized them for uploading. I was quite pleased with the results and I am looking forward to taking some photos at the Benfleet 15 cross country run next weekend.
