This morning I paid a visit to Trifarm – a purpose built open water swimming lake and triathlon centre near Boreham in Essex. This was my first visit there and it was not to use the facilities but to play taxi to my daughter who was having an open water swimming lesson there.
The sporting facilities were excellent and the lake itself is first class. A perimeter swim around the buoys is 800m and a 1km running track circumnavigates the lake. The visitor facilities are basic but functional with a main Portacabin for registration and refreshments (bacon sarnies were good) and another serving as a changing room.
Swimming lessons at the Trifarm are provided by Gill and Dawn from Tri ‘n’ Swim Well and it was Gill who was in charge of Lizzie for her lesson which she enjoyed very much. It was a grey day and mighty chilly both in and outside of the water but I was able to take a stroll around the lake and take some photos.
Despite the cold Lizzie had a good swim and is keen to return. The site was pretty good for photography too and I’d like to return to do more photography including some tiplapse and video. A sunnier warmer occasion would be preferable. On June 14th the Trifarm Triathlon is taking place and I’m planning to attend to do some photography.
A few pics are included below plus more can be found in this google+ album.
