Prudential RideLondon Surrey 100 for the British Tinnitus Association – Essex Runners and Riders

Okay.  So I have decided to take a Gold Bond charity place in the Prudential RideLondon Surrey 100 that will take place on the 10th August.  Partly as I am keen to take part in this event but mainly as I want to raise money for the British Tinnitus Association.  As this is a Gold Bond place I need to raise a bundle of cash for BTA – and that is where you all come in….

Ride London

The word ‘tinnitus’ comes from the Latin word for ‘ringing’ and is the perception of sound in the absence of any corresponding external sound. This noise may be heard in one ear, in both ears or in the middle of the head or it may be difficult to pinpoint its exact location. The noise may be low, medium or high‑pitched. There may be a single noise or two or more components. The noise may be continuous or it may come and go.  There is no current treatment and it can severely effect quality of life. 10% of UK adults have tinnitus. Your donation will ensure free support can continue to be offered, and will support research leading to effective treatment.

Both my father and my daughter Lizzie suffer from Tinnitus and because of this we support the British Tinnitus Association.   The BTA is a world leader in providing support and advice about tinnitus. They provide accurate, reliable and authoritative information, much of it written by medical professionals or clinical researchers.

In total I have to raise a minimum of £750 although my target is £1000.  I have various ideas for raising the money but obviously the main method will be gaining pledges/donations/sponsorship from the many friends and acquaintances I have around the place.  I should add that in 2013 my dayghter Lizzie did a 3km open water swim raising money for BTA and won a prize for her story.  Unfortunately she cannot do so this year as she is away and so I am trying to fill that fundraising gap with this event.

One big group of said friends and acquaintances is the Essex running and riding massive which includes the Flyers Southend gang, the Southend and Basildon parkrun girls and boys, and all the other assorted folks who I run and ride with.

Now to encourage all you fine peeps to sponsor me – and with the very kind assistance of two local businesses – I have put together some great prizes that any of you who sponsor me (see T’s & C’s below) will be entered into a draw to win.  YES – for a small donation you could win a BIG prize.

The final prize in the draw is slighty different.  Many of you will know me from the not-for-profit photography I do at local running and cycling events such as Southend parkrun and Basildon parkrun, the Benfleet 15, Southend and Leigh on Sea 10K’s, London to Southend Cycle and suchlike.  One lucky(?) person will win a family/group/individual photo session with me at a convenient location (probably at a local park or in your garden).  I should add that I am not a professional photographer and I have limited equipment but I will do my best to take some decent group and/or individual photos which I will provide electronically with a small number of hard copy prints.

You can get a flavour of my photography from the photos on my Google photos site here and I will do some practice sessions beforehand to make sure I capture the best set of photos I can 🙂

So there you go.  Three very worthwhile (well two anyway) prizes and all you have to do is sponsor me a modest amount and you will get an entry in the draw.

Of course you can just sponsor me because you want to and not enter yourself in the draw.  You can sponsor me at http://www.justgiving.com/Noynek-RLS2014

Terms and conditions.

For every £5 sponsorship donated you will get an entry into the prize draw.  You can enter via my justgiving page above or by just giving me some cash which I will record on a sponsor form.  If you don’t wish to be entered into the drawer (if you are unlikely to use the prizes for example) then let me know either in the comments on JustGiving or by any other media channels.  Only one prize will be given to any one person.  When the draw is undertaken I will draw a reserve prizewinner in case the first drawn winner cannot use or is not able to use.  No cash alternatives will be given.  No guarantee as to the quality of the photos I taken is given.  A maximum of 10 A4 equivalent hard copies of photos will be provided for the group photos prize.  All prize awards will be at my discretion.
